Short answer: the best funny gift for a sysadmin, DevOps engineer or developer is one that nods to the troubleshooting pain they live through every week—especially the rule that when the network breaks, "it's always DNS." Pick something useful at a desk, like a tee, an 11oz coffee mug or a laptop sticker. If you don't know their shirt size, the mug or sticker is the safe choice.
Today's live 24-hour drop: "Side Eye" dog tees, mug and sticker
Daily Meme releases a small numbered drop of original designs every day. Each design is sold for 24 hours, then retired. Our "It's Always DNS" drop (Drop #003) has ended and is retired, so those tees, mug and sticker are no longer for sale. Below is today's live 24-hour drop on Daily Meme (Drop #004, "Side Eye"). It's a dog joke rather than a tech one: a cartoon pittie giving the side-eye every engineer gives a "quick question" message. If the IT pro you're shopping for is also a dog person, here it is.
I Saw That Side-Eye Dog Tee
$24.00
A smug cartoon pittie with a world-class side-eye. For the dog person who gets judged by their own dog every single day.
Side Eye Club Retro Badge Tee
$24.00
A 70s-style sunset badge starring one deeply unimpressed dog. Good for retro fans and anyone fluent in side-eye.
I Saw That Side-Eye Dog Mug
$19.99
11oz white ceramic, design on both sides. An easy pick when you don't know their shirt size, and it gets used every morning.
Leave Me Alone Kawaii Puppy Sticker
$4.99
A 3x3 kiss-cut vinyl sticker with a pouty kawaii puppy. A small add-on for a card, or for laptops and water bottles.
Every item is made fresh for you—printed fresh when you order, which takes 2-5 business days before it ships. Prices are in USD. See today's live drop on the home page.
Gift tips for sysadmins, IT pros and developers
- Use an inside joke that actually happens at work. Generic "computer genius" slogans feel cheesy. Jokes about DNS propagation, Friday deploys, or pretending not to be the family helpdesk land much better because every engineer has lived them.
- Aim for the desk setup. Developers and sysadmins spend hours next to a mug and a laptop lid. An 11oz ceramic mug or a 3x3 vinyl sticker gets used every single workday without needing a closet check.
- Check the size before buying a tee. If you can peek at a t-shirt they already wear, a black unisex tee is an easy weekend and work-from-home staple. When in doubt, pick the mug or sticker.
- Pair it with good coffee or cable ties. A bag of whole-bean coffee or Velcro cable straps next to an "It's Always DNS" mug turns a quick joke into a thoughtful desk upgrade.
- Don't ask them to fix your printer while they open it. Give them one day off from family tech support—that's half the gift.
